The Scotsman All-Carbon Fiber Scooter team just posted. posted by Emma Wilson Sep 9, 2021 • 8:15PM PDT Update #21 - Extraordinary measures for extraordinary times   Dear backers,   Wow, a heartfelt thank you to all of you who reached out to us about the COVID situation in Vietnam. Your concern for and support of the team means the world to us. For those asking what measures are being taken at the factory, the team sent us some pictures to share with you.   As mentioned previously, up until June this year, Vietnam has been able to almost completely avoid COVID with less than 1000 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, incredibly low for a population of 100m people. Schools, theatres, malls, etc. have mostly been open since May 2020. But COVID has finally started to make its way into the country over the last few months.     So we started to take a number of preemptive measures a couple months ago to maximize our chances of continuing to operate in case the situation got worse (which it has obviously). One of the keys to being able to do this is to avoid having any F0's (people testing positive for COVID) or F1's (people in contact with F0's) amongst our team members which would put our facilities at risk. To avoid this, one of the steps we took was to ask our professional and factory staff to consider moving into our production facilities. Since June, 126 of our team members (engineers, materials scientists, operations staff) have volunteered to come live in the factory to be able to continue work and make progress on Scotsman. This helps to reduce the chances of there being any F0 or F1's or contact with any such cases.       We are unbelievably grateful for the dedication and sacrifice these team members have made for Scotsman as they've been away from their families for the last two months and plan to continue to do so for at least the next month. We have people like Nga and Ut to thank for taking care of our teams (daily laundry/water + 3x daily food service) everyday, 7 days a week.      This is Vu, one of our Maintenance Engineers taking a break in between shifts.   Nhan, one of our Materials Engineers, here talking with his family after a long day.   To comply with local regulations and to continue to demonstrate the lack of F0's and F1's, we perform COVID tests and submit results for everyone every two days.   Meals are socially distanced.     Regardless of that, we understand that we are more fortunate than others when we can still breathe, have meaningful work, strive towards a worthy mission (making the world lighter), and have each other. To support the people of Ho Chi Minh City, we raised money within the team to buy PPE and various medical supplies for field hospitals in need.
